Haba mini dog game

Travel games

Haba mini dog game We have been making travel games over the last few weeks in our chug/classes. The idea was that almost all the girls are going away somewhere once school is out and all of the "somewhere" require traveling. Having some travel games would make the traveling part of the trip more fun. For inspiration I pulled out a HABA game I bought my daughter a while back (see image.) I also pulled out three books that I thought might be useful for ideas: ...

Nylon Flower arrangements for Bat Mitzvah

If you are looking for a project for a Bat Mitzvah around Shavuot, you could try floral arrangements with old nylons. Nylons can be dyed using store bought dye or food coloring and vinegar. There are a variety of examples on the web for inspiration and tutorials, or you can get a copy of The Art of Handmade Flowers. For online tutorials and examples ...

First Mitzvah book Tutorial

In honor of Parshat Yitro here is a tutorial of how to make a great Mitzvah baby book with photos of the different pages. I did not make it- it was made by one of the girls in my class. She wanted to make something for her new nephew and we came up with this idea. We looked at lots of different childrens books. She wanted to do something for now rather than when he was older. BiRechov Yirmiyahu- children’s book with textile eye candy

rechov1I have been meaning to post about this book for a long time but the Tenth of Tevet is appropriate due to the name of the book and the connection of the Prophet Jeremiah to the period of seige and destruction of Jerusalem. This book has a much happier subject. I found it at Shavua hasefer (book week) this past year and immediately bought two copies and showed it to my class (doll clothing) for inspiration.  The book is called BiRechov Yirmiyahu or Jeremiah Street and is written by Libi Daon and illustrated by Lena Guberman. ...

Doll clothing chug update

buildabear outfits1 Although I have not posted recently about the chug (workshop/class), we are meeting again this year and are working on a variety of projects, mostly not doll clothing. Some participants are working on animal shaped ouch relievers (you know, those things that sit in the freezer and when you get an ouch, relieve the ouches) and others are working on scarves, some intended as Hanukkah presents. I'll post photos when they are finished (assuming I remember to photograph them before they get taken home.) Here are a few clothing items that the girls made in the meantime: ...
