I know the title starts with Scarves, and I'm including one photo of a scarf at the top, but I am going to start with the updates. Updates Now that Chanukkah/Hanukkah is over we can get back to other topics. I have been working on a variety of graphic design projects but most are identity related and I'm not going to post any at this time. I'm also ...
Hanukkah lights and a few more projects (including felt donuts)
Tonight is the last night of Hanukkah/Chanukkah. I took some photos in the neighbourhood of traditional Jerusalem lamps or lamp boxes and I am including them in this post.
Doll clothing chug update
Although I have not posted recently about the chug (workshop/class), we are meeting again this year and are working on a variety of projects, mostly not doll clothing. Some participants are working on animal shaped ouch relievers (you know, those things that sit in the freezer and when you get an ouch, relieve the ouches) and others are working on scarves, some intended as Hanukkah presents. I'll post photos when they are finished (assuming I remember to photograph them before they get taken home.) Here are a few clothing items that the girls made in the meantime:
...Some more fun things for Hanukkah
Here are a few more fun things for Hanukkah/Chanukkah: The first two are in Hebrew but have a lot of pictures so for readers who don't read Hebrew, you can get the gist of the project anyway. Welcoming Guests Parshat Vayera
Abraham and the angels mug by BC Annex For this week's parsha I thought I would post something I made a while back. I originally called it Abraham and the three angels, but the truth is you don't see Abraham or Sarah, but only the three angels. Its sort of in a werkstatte style, turn of the last century. I originally made it as an 8x10 print, but her ...

For Parshat Noah Crochet Animals
In honor of this weeks parsha- parshat Noach or Noah, I'm including a photo of the animals I crocheted for my daughter. The inspiration for these was two puppets I bought many years ago at the puppet museum in Atlanta (a great museum!) which were knitted in South America. I bought a colorful parrot and a lama. When I bought them originally I figured I could probably figure out how to do them, at least the lama.
...Mitzvot Craft and Education
I have been talking with my daughter about mitzvot (loosely translated as good deeds or commandments) quite a bit lately. Because of the holiday season, we have spoken about about the shofar, the symbolic foods, prayer, charity, teshuvah among other holiday related mitzvot. We have also been talking in general about the mitzvot that she has performed. ...
Simple craft for sukkot
These are not such original ideas but they can be a fun holiday toy for a young child in synagogue or wherever. The idea of using a matchbox as a house came from colouredbuttons.com, where she has many lovely ideas in general, but in particular really sweet things out of matchboxes. I just modified her idea for the holidays and for use with a smaller ...
