\"PatterningI saw this idea of patterning a map of Israel in a local kindergarten, but I can see doing something like this with older children as well with various techniques. Basically the teachers divided up the map into various zones and had children use different techniques to fill in the map.<\/p>\n

This is great on a number of levels. It allows for different skill levels, visual interest, and hand eye coordination. In a way it is like building a mosaic. This reminds me of another project I have seen in the Feurstein Center of Rabbi Professor Feurstein z\u201dl. There different students chose a section of a photograph of Rabbi Professor Feurstein to develop with a different technique in black and white. The completed work has depth and texture.<\/p>\n

Patterning a Map of Israel in Cake?<\/h2>\n

I could see doing this type of projects with cake too. You could use colored frosting, sprinkles, and marshmallow fondant to create shapes and textures. How about in fabric? It could make a cool quilting project too. If you make something like this, please do share photos!
