\"Accessing<\/a>As part of the Mitzvot Unplugged Series we are happy to welcome a guest post from Nicky Newfield, Corinne Ossendryver, Miriam Eljas and the Jewish Interactive team.<\/em>
\nJewish Interactive<\/a> is a non-profit organization, founded in South Africa, whose mission is to create interactive Jewish programs, using modern technology, to make Torah more relevant, accessible and alive to Jewish educators, children and parents.\u00a0 Our vision is to create a global collaboration that unites Jewish educators, curriculum developers, informal Jewish organizations and students with cutting\u2013edge gaming and e-learning technology to bring all Jews a touch closer.<\/p>\n

We have developed and are developing a variety of apps to help us reach our vision. For instance, Shabbat Interactive<\/strong> is a multimedia learning environment that explores Shabbat for children from ages 6 to 11. We are working on Jewish Framework<\/strong>, in which we are compiling a curriculum map for general Jewish studies from grades 1-6 linking all topics to the available resources. JI has built the curriculum according to Jewish Calendar, History, Life Cycle, Relationships, Prayer, Tanach. Jewish Frameworks will provide a comprehensive view of Judaism using scaffolded curriculum, digital representations and animations, guided interactivity,digital assessment, differentiated learning tools, an online management platform, and blended learning educator resources.<\/p>\n

One of latest initiatives is JI Studio<\/strong>. JI Studio<\/strong> encourage children to let their imaginations run wild, use higher-order thinking skills and create projects with mind-blowing tools combined with full access to the Tanach. JI Studio<\/strong> visually dazzles with rich collections of Jewish-themed stickers, story backgrounds, Hebrew letters, vowels and words, characters, dress-ups, photographs, coloring pages and songs relating to special themes. This year to help you and your family prepare for Shavuot we have added content appropriate for the holiday. Here are some of the things you can do:<\/p>\n

MAKE A COMIC OF THE STORY OF RUTH<\/strong>
\nJI Studio<\/strong> includes the text of the entire Tanach, so you will be able to bring in texts from Megillat Ruth,customarily read during Shavuot,\u00a0 to enrich your comic.
\nFollow these steps to make your Shavuot comic:
\n1.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Read Megillat Ruth and find a chapter that you want to show in your comic. Note the chapter and verse.
\n2.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Open JI Studio<\/strong> and select the Shavuot<\/strong> collection.<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a>
\n3.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Decide how many frames your comic will be, and choose that comic background from Backgrounds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a>
\n4. \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Open the Torah Text<\/strong>, select Ketuvim<\/em>, and select the chapter and verse that you noted.<\/p>\n

\n5.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0From the Stickers<\/strong> menu, choose images and characters.<\/p>\n

\n6.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Choose a Speech bubble from the Images<\/strong> menu.
\n7.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Using the Text Tool,<\/strong> type text into the bubble.<\/p>\n

MAKE A POSTER OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS<\/strong>
\nFollow these steps to make your poster:
\n1.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Choose a story Background<\/strong>. Select the blank Luchot, or tablets.
\n2.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0From the Stickers<\/strong> menu select the 10 Commandments.<\/p>\n

\n3.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Arrange all Ten Commandments on the Luchot.
\n4.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Use Stickers<\/strong> to decorate your poster.
\n5.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Make your poster interactive: Use the Microphone<\/strong> to voice\u2010over each commandment!<\/p>\n
