As you can see we&#8217;ve started with a simple craft- decorating wooden dreidel bases. I love how the girls did them and I have to say they were a huge hit with the three year old crowd. They are pretty common here and not expensive (you can be in touch if you are looking for them.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/increations.blogspot.com\/2008\/12\/hanukiah-with-houses.html\" target=\"_blank\">This<\/a> is a lovely clay hanukkah lamp project in the shape of buildings.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to add some more educational type stuff <!--more-->in addition to the crafty type stuff. The Bnei Akiva Hadracha site has a nice activity related to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hadracha.org\/he\/vw.asp?id=1859\" target=\"_blank\">Who is a Hero<\/a> which is appropriate for this time of year. It is easily adaptable to a family environment or meal discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Martha Stewart has a very simple <a title=\"Dreidel placecard\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marthastewart.com\/article\/dreidel-place-card?backto=true\" target=\"_blank\">dreidel placecard project<\/a> (basically a 3D paper dreidel.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/moroccanstylehanukkah.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1095\" title=\"Moroccan inspired Hanukkah lamp\" src=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/moroccanstylehanukkah-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Moroccan inspired Hanukkah lamp\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>We are in the middle of making a handprint menorah. I wanted to make a menorah with my daughter out of clay that was within her scope of dexterity. I remembered that in some areas of Morocco, Hanukkah lamps were made out of stone with common oil areas and then wicks were inserted in slits at the front. Something along the lines of <a title=\"Moroccan stone Hanukkah lamp\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imj.org.il\/imagine\/collections\/item.asp?itemNum=359049\" target=\"_blank\">this lamp<\/a> from the Israel museum collection (check out their IMAGINE database for other interesting examples including a beaded Hanukkah lamp.) We tried to do something similar by using the palm area as the oil repository and we&#8217;ll float wicks in the fingers. We havent gotten to paint or fire it yet but we enjoyed making it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/han4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-640 alignleft\" title=\"felt food sufganiot\" src=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/han4-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"felt food sufganiot donuts\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Then there are the projects from last year- i think we&#8217;ll try and make some <a title=\"felt potato pancakes\" href=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/wordpress\/?p=555\" target=\"_self\">felt latkes<\/a> or <a title=\"donuts\" href=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/wordpress\/?p=632\" target=\"_self\">sufganiyot<\/a> for the gan or maybe as a giveaway. Another project idea is to make Maoz Tzur booklets like the one I have in the <a title=\"Maoz Tzur handmade book\" href=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=67&amp;products_id=268\" target=\"_self\">shop<\/a> (see post for more information <a title=\"Hanukkah candle lighting booklet post\" href=\"https:\/\/birkatchaverim.com\/wordpress\/?p=545\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a>.)
