Kamtza and Bar Kamtza Puppets

This is version one of a free template to make Kamtza and Bar Kamtza puppets. Children can color them, cut them out and attach them to popsicle sticks. There is a small script, a version of the story if you will, on the template page. You are welcome to use this with small children. However, it is in no way intended as a definitive telling of the story.

How we tell the story

Usually when we tell the story of Kamtza and Bar Kamtza we add in details like:

  • How the Romans expected the Jews to show allegiance and why withholding the korban or sacrifice was such a problem.
  • We ask how would you have felt if you had been Bar Kamtza/Kamtza.
  • What would you have done if you were at the party?
  • We discuss the story in terms of bullying/queen bees/bystanders. For another resource on this topic please see our review of Seven Steps to Mentchhood.

We ask many manyquestions. This is a story we tell often throughout the year.

This version was done quickly (note the similarities to the Purim cupcake wrappers). Apologies for the anachronistic way of dress for the Jews. Maybe I’ll update it in the future.
