This sock books seemed meant for me

The other day I walked into my sib’s house and saw this book on the couch. I said something along the lines of “how did you find something so perfect?” Why? because everyone in the family knows how we make things out of socks and the projects in Socks Appeal: 15 Fun & Funky Friends Sewn from Socks by Brenna Moloney are really great! and she’s pretty funny in her instructions, so fun to read.

Granted we almost never make dolls out of socks but I could see doing so at some point and the ones in here are great for ideas. I can see these being good filled with beans and used as bookends in a kids room or if made with small socks, magnets. My one reservation about the book is the suggestion of buying socks for the projects rather than collecting them from family and friends (although she talks about collecting from family members too.) I personally would not buy them I would want to reuse what I have.

There is a website – socksappeal.org which has a few extra projects and tidbits and information about the more recent books in the series. Take a look because there really are cute ideas. I am thinking that maybe I will do one of these with my daughter and then send a picture to the author. She posts photos of projects done from her book and I think a child would really enjoy seeing their work up on the web.
